Walmart will redevelop the property at 3925 Crosshaven Drive, where Winn-Dixie closed its doors in May 2025. The site has sat empty since then. Walmart plans to demolish the old building and put up a brand-new 45,000-square-foot Walmart Neighborhood Market with groceries, a bakery, a deli, a pharmacy, and general merchandise, according to the Vestavia Voice.
The Vestavia Hills City Council approved an economic development agreement that gives Walmart a tax rebate over a 10-year period to support the project. No construction start date or opening date has been announced yet.

The store should open about 12 months after construction starts and will run 12,000 to 15,000 square feet, larger than the family’s current store.
